They were well balanced mostly because the HMG was well balanced. What went wrong?
I'll tell ya what went wrong!!! The HMG in Chromosome has 2000 rpm and same dmg as now and it was perfectly good and really well balanced
The HMG now has 2400 rpm, and same damage as chromosome. So, why the extra 400 rpm?? Why?
The HMG now is OP no matter what you argue. There is literally no counter to heavies with in 30m range other than scout with SG(It doesn't work half the time since the heavy can just turn around in a second and zap you with the death ray disseminating you within .2 seconds). RE don't work as well either because some can tank them and their death ray kills you faster than the RE can be activated.
Now, most of you know that most of the objectives on most maps are CQC and since there no counter to these 2000 ehp guys with death rays just makes them super OP.
Suggestion that wont ruin Heavies job.
1.) Reduce HMG Optimal from 25m to 17.5m. This will keep the heavies potency within CQC but make it so it's easier to kill them with range. A weapon with that much range on a suit with that much HP just makes it OP
2.) Take away HMG headshot damage multiplier, it's way too easy to get head shots with HMG. When I use HMG, I find my self geting more head shot kills than with any other weapon . The headshot multiplier just takes that 800 DMG per second and makes it go through the roof.
3.) reduce RPM from 2400 to the Chromosome 2000. The 400rpm was unnecessary.
Now before you forum scubs tell me to- use shoot them from far, tell me what I am suppose to do to counter these guys in a CQC map. Scout and SG (doesn't work half the time). RE's (doesn't work half the time).
The only counter to something should never be its self. |

Edit:
4.) Make it so when HMG is fired, the HMG aim can only be adjusted slowly (rotation on heavy suit reduces to a 50% normal rate) |

I'm a level 5 (across the board) dedicated heavy. I do some other things, but heavy is my raison d'etre. I've been a heavy since I started this game over a year ago. I was a heavy when heavies weren't cool. And Dust is my first ever FPS, so admittedly I'm not as good as some others who have more FPS experience. Heavies aren't for suppression now are they? They all go like 20+ kills (slayer status) and with 5 or less deaths. Heavies are very non-risk ATM, I have never seen so many militia suits with proto weapons. Some people don't even specialize into sentinel, the HMG is so OP that they only get the boundless and put it on a militia heavy or basic heavy. Last time I say an std assault, STD scout, or STD logi with proto weapon was a long time ago. LAst time I saw a militia heavy with Proto HMG was last match.
Oh, BTW, I did play chromosome and I was a heavy. The HMG was baus and well balanced.

Thought I will say the heavy suit itself is not the issue, its just the ridiculousness of the HMG. It can easily kill at range and its very very powerful up close.
Some maps do not allow for any range to be used to other players advantage against heavies....
No, HMG just has too much range, A boundless HMG up to 30m is doing more damage than proto assault rifle... The things range needs to be reduced. |

Employ any of the aforementioned methods, and you should have no problem killing me or any of the other "terrible" heavies that fall victim to these same game play strategies. And all of this was said without the anger you were looking to incite. Nice attempt though, but you'd be better served putting that effort toward counter heavy measures.
Heavy + scout share vision= OP... Literally there is no draw back to heavy other than speed but who cares, they have 2000 ehp. Oh don't forget the .001 second killer, the death ray, the bane of newbs, the OP, the HMG. There is no counter to heavies for new people. |

Izlare Lenix wrote:The only true issue with heavies are the ****** maps. Most of all objectives are in cqc scenarios, making the "use range" argument total crap.
But since we have to deal with these stupid maps that force us into the heavies circle of death I honestly feel only one thing should be changed with the sentinel/hmg.
The hmg is a giant multi barrel gun so it should have a spool up time similar to the rail rifle. This would give medium frames/scouts an extra half second to react before being insta killed. And no, the accuracy increase after firing a bit is NOT the same thing. When I hmg I frequently kill scouts before the recticle starts to shrink. The spool up time would delay actual damage not just accuracy.
wait, they'll just keep tapping the fire button so the barrel is spinning and ready to fire whenever
I suggest reduce range to 17.5m and then reduce RPM from 2400 to chromosome 2000. |
